This updated version of Sock Science Too offers 3 styles of sock. Summer Sockies begin with a garter stitch cuff with striping ideas for the cuff, heel and foot; Mock Cable Socks are worked in a solid colour and a longer leg with a textured pattern that can also continue down the top of the foot. The Sock Monkey Work Socks are knit in a heavy worsted weight yarn and have useful instructions for casting on, knitting a ‘clean’ stripe in ribbing, and working a turning round.

Both sock styles use the same garter stitch short row heel. Included is a helpful checklist with stitch counts for each row of the heel. The chart and sizing information make it easy to knit the heel to suit your foot. If you have a high instep, like me, you may want to start your heel with 70% of your sock stitches, rather than the more standard 50%.

Try substituting this heel in your favourite sock pattern - it works great in vanilla socks, too!

I hope you enjoy working from this 9-page pattern!
