Soliloquy Lace Crescent
This design was inspired by the popular Color Affection by Veera Välimäki. It reminded me of a project I knitted when I was in college, which consisted of a number of linked crescents, forming an oversized batwing cardigan. I knitted Color Affection as a summer holiday project and loved the finished shawl, but I realised I would have enjoyed the project more if it hadn’t been purely garter stitch. I liked the idea of replacing the garter stitch with a simple lace pattern. This shawl is the result.
It combines two lace stitches that complement each other, one for the first section of the shawl and one for the second (striped) section. When working the pattern in one colour, the lace design stands out more (pictures of a single colour version to follow).
