Stars & Stripes is a three-part shawlette worked using a single skein of fingering weight yarn. The first piece, Stars, uses (surprise!) the classic star stitch pattern.

The increase on the right edge of the RS rows are what shapes the shawl and grows the wingspan edge. On the left side of each RS row you will work a lifted M1 increase. These increases become part of the shawl body to replace the next wrapped stitch which you will hold on your left needle to use in part three (the border).
