Miss Elinor Dashwood was the sensible sister, or so we are meant to believe. She holds the family together, keeping calm while her sisters and mother and all their neighbors and friends express their emotions rather freely. But still waters run deep, and by the end of Sense and Sensibility, we know Elinor has loved and suffered as much as Marianne.

Still Waters begins with a beaded lace edging, worked sideways. Stitches are picked up along the long edge, and the short-row lace body is worked up from there. Lace patterns are provided in both charted and written format. Sample used 280 yards.

Beads: Pattern calls for 156 seed beads, size 6/0. I recommend buying about 10% more than you actually need. Sometimes beads can be malformed, making them difficult or impossible to string onto the yarn. Discard these beads, along with any beads with sharp edges, which can damage the yarn. Seek out quality beads with large holes.
