October, near Taos. Purple clouds gather menacingly over the
dramatic landscape of northern New Mexico. Alder and chamisa glow against the deep green trees and the darkening mountains in the slanting light.

The Storm Over Taos Vest uses fourteen shades of Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift fingering-weight yarn, but only two colors are used in each round. The allover geometric motif is easy to follow; the garment is framed with corrugated rib. The vest is knit in the round, with waist shaping and shoulder shaping if you want them. Instructions for setting up, crocheting, and cutting the steeks are included.

It is written for seven sizes, from 34.25” to 51.5”.

Thanks to test knitter Glenna Eastwood for knitting the sample, offering constructive suggestions, and modeling.
