This is a pattern for a shoulder or cross over bag that should be large enough to hold your essentials on a day/night out. There is a little lace work and a chart and written instructions are provided.

It would be easy to adapt the pattern and make a larger size.

I have used 2 balls of Rowan Cotton Glace as it is lovely to work with and doesn’t ‘stretch’ as much as other yarns.

The beads add a nice touch of glamour and are easy to add (instructions given) and a three-needle cast off is used for a neat bottom to the bag.

It is lined to give it strength and prevent stretching (instructions given). Choose a lovely contrasting fabric for a fun bag or a more sober fabric for a more ‘grown-up’ bag.

I made the strap using a simple cord but you could add beads to one strand of the cord to make it more glamorous as per the pink strap in the photograph (you would need extra beads). A beaded I-cord would probably work well or a purchased strap.

It is also a very quick knit.

I believe the pattern to be accurate but please let me know if you feel it is not.
