Sunflower Shawl - by Emily Wessel

A chevron lace pattern mimics the seeds and jumbo petals of an overgrown sunflower. Knit in a bright and saturated yellow, it can bring sun to the gloomiest of rainy days.

This simple lace shawl is knit from the center back down to the mesh edging, and is formed of 2 triangles separated by a centerline stitch. The pattern includes both charts and written instructions. Lace patterning is worked on right-side rows only, wrong-side rows are simply purled.

Instructions are given for two sizes, scarf-sized first, then shawl sized, in 3 yarn weights:

Yarn - - - - - - - - - - - - - Needle - - - Finished Size - - -
500(850) yds lace weight - - 3.75mm - - 52” x 20” (67” x 26”)
550(950) yds fingering - - - 4.0mm - - - 56” x 24” (72” x 30”)
650(1100) yds dk weight - - 4.5mm - - - 64” x 26” (82” x 34”)
