These socks are worked from the toe up. For a long time I knit only top-down socks, but lately I’ve been warming to toe-up sockitecture, especially after finding the gusset and heel flap technique used here. Some wrap-and-turn short rows are involved, but it’s not too tedious, and the wraps are concealed all at once as in Cat Bordhi’s Riverbed scheme. The heel flap is “zipped up” one row at a time with the sides of the gusset.

The Sunray lace pattern looks best with a firm heavier fingering weight yarn. The sample is knit with CPY Panda Cotton.
