Sweet Lullaby Seamless Hooded Blanket
Aug. 3/15: New version released, with better wording, updated charts, new layout, and twisted yarn over increases for sharper corners. New version also corrects an error in the written instructions: where it read, “repeat rows 16-24”, it should have read, “repeat rounds 16-25.
This soft, snuggly blanket is perfect to wrap your baby in. Blanket, hood, and border are knit in the round in one piece―no seaming, no picking up stitches. The pattern has both written and charted instructions, and includes guidelines for adapting it to any gauge or size, so you can make one for a doll, for your toddler, or even (if you’re feeling ambitious) for yourself. This also means that getting exact gauge is less important than getting a fabric you like. Pattern uses lifted increases and short row shaping; explanations for these techniques are included.
Yarn: Worsted weight, 500 yds/457m MC and 164 yds/150m CC.
Needles required: (5) 4.5mm/US 7 DPNs or size to obtain gauge, 32” 4.5mm circular or size to obtain gauge. 24” and 40” circular needles are helpful but not required.
Pattern suggests the Emily Ocker cast on, for which I’ve done a photo tutorial.
Oct. 1/10 Just got a photo of my week-old nephew in the prototype, which is the size given in the pattern. Added photo to show size on a newborn, as it looks so small on the older baby.
