A charming, quick-to-knit Christmas tree applique that can be decorated as desired. Try beads, sequins, embroidered French knots, mini light bulbs or jingle bells from a crafts store, or sparkly yarn or tinsel.

For a stitch marker greeting card, tie on marker(s) with thread or yarn, attach any other desired embellishments, and affix the tree to cardstock with adhesive dots or a dab of crafts glue.

For an ornament, apply a light coat of fabric adhesive to the back of the applique; when dry thread a loop of yarn through the top for hanging.

Uses approx. 22 yards of fingering weight yarn. The finished piece measures 5” at the base and 6 1/4” tall, after blocking. Gauge is not critical for this project, but of course changes in gauge will affect the finished size.

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions.
