Official Kit Launch
I collaborated with Qing Fibre from London this year to bring you custom Westknits MKAL Kits at Stephen & Penelope.

Kits will be available Friday, September 7
16:00 Amsterdam / 10:00 NYC / 23:00 Tokyo

UPDATE: Most kits are sold out, but we are expecting many individual skeins of Qing Fibre to arrive at our shop including more colors of Melted Suri Alpaca. Check back in mid-late September on Instagram (Westknits) and in the MKAL Ravelry group for Qing Fibre & Melted Suri yarn updates.

Join the Ravelry Group here to see all kits details with recommended colors. Share your colors in the group as we anticipate the clue releases in October.

SCHEDULE
Clue 1 - Friday, October 5
Clue 2 - Friday, October 12
Clue 3 - Friday, October 19
Clue 4 - Friday, October 26

Sizes: The overall shape and dimensions are part of the mystery! There will be an option during the last week of the KAL to make the shawl bigger if you love shlanket (shawl blanket) sizes. Otherwise, the overall size will be similar to Marled Magic Shawl and Speckle & Pop Shawl.

Yarn: Fingering weight

Recommended Yarn: Qing Fibre High Twist BFL for MC, CC1, CC2, & CC3
Qing Fibre Melted Suri for CC4

Yardage: MC - 1 skein of wool (399yds / 365m)
CC1 - 1 skein of wool (399yds / 365m)
CC2 - 1 skein of wool (399yds / 365m)
CC3 - 1 skein of wool (399yds / 365m)
CC4 - 2 skeins of Melted Suri (382yds / 350m total; 100g total) Melted Suri comes in 50g skeins so 2 skeins will be enough for the recommended 382yds / 350m for CC4.

You will have leftovers of the colors, but I recommend starting with the recommended yardage so you don’t run out of yarn.

If you decide to use an accent color of wool instead of Melted Suri for CC4, you will only need 1 skein of fingering weight wool (100g) for CC4.

MC: main color
CC: contrast color

Needles: 40” / 100cm US 5 / 3.75mm circular

Notions: 2 stitch markers, tapestry needle

Gauge: 20 sts & 44 rows = 4” / 10cm in garter stitch (un-blocked).
It is okay if there is some gauge variation. If you like smaller shawls, aim for a gauge closer to 22-24 sts = 4” / 10cm in garter stitch.

Errata:
Clue 1 - Row 21 of the Brioche version: The stitch count should be 37 sts, not 45.
