This pattern is quite a hike, but a beautiful and fun one. You can choose all garter stitch or opt for more variety and a little challenge. The size is flexible, letting you knit just the kind of scarf you will love.

The variation of colors and stitches truly add to the fun. I think of the different stitch patterns as representing the edges of the Great Lakes--the sandy beaches, the rocky shores and even Lake Shore Drive. Yet, this is a great project for times when you want to talk or while traveling.

Your exact yardage will depend on your knitting--the size you want, your gauge and your stitch patterns. I intended to provide the exact amount I used of each color. I even knit two scarves! But, somehow, especially on road trips, there were distractions and lost notes! My estimates should get you on your way.

Happy Knitting!
