The Little Bumps Cowl is designed to be an elegant everyday wardrobe staple, and can easily be knitted shorter or longer to suit the needs of the knitter. The “bumps” are created by knitting and purling several times in the same three stitches, giving an otherwise simple stockinette base some interest and texture.

The cowl is beginner friendly in that all ‘advanced’ techniques used, such as a provisional cast-on and kitchener stitch, can be exchanged for a long-tail cast-on which allows the ends to be sewn together with an invisible horizontal seam. The only stitches used are plain knit and purl, so don’t be intimidated by the bumps - they are easier than they look!

Gauge for this cowl is 18 stitches and 23 rows for a 4” square, but as with any accessory, meeting the exact gauge is not essential for a good result.

Yardage required is only a suggestion - the pattern can be made longer or shorter, and yarn amounts need to be adjusted accordingly. The yardage suggested will produce a cowl of about 50” circumference.
