The shape of this hat was inspired by the Garrison caps worn in years past by the army. It is knit in the round from the bottom up without using any double point needles. When the hat is tall/long enough, the stitch count is reduced by half and is finished with a point edging (or substitute a three needle bind off). It is sized to fit an adult head but can be easily modified to fit a smaller head. Knit it with 130-140 yards of worsted weight yarn with a size 7 (4.5 mm) 16” circular knitting needle. Finished size was 23” around x 8” tall. The point can be worn from front to back or side to side on the head.
