The Winter Tee
The Winter Tee is not your average tee.

It’s a densely-knit, boatneck, cuffed sweater with crisp garter edge details. The pattern has no upper or lower size limits, it is completely customized using a few of your unique measurements.

It’s also reversible!

Sizing Info:
Like all of my patterns, The Winter Tee is #sizeinclusive and has absolutely no upper or lower size limits. It’s custom-fit based on your unique measurements.

The pattern asks you to input 6 of your body measurements (in inches) and then calculates the pattern from there. It can be knit to a cropped length, tunic length, and everywhere in between.

Gauge and Yarn information
Precise gauge of 6 stitches and 8 rows per 1” with any worsted or aran weight yarn is critical for this pattern. Note that this will mean using smaller needles than are typically recommended with these mid-weight yarns. However, it gives a beautiful structure and warmth to the finished garment.

Non-superwash wool yarn is recommended.

Yardage Required
As so many pieces of this tee are customizable to your measurements, precise yardage recommendations are challenging to give. However, use the following chart as a guide. The amounts below are for a tee that is 15 inches from underarm to hem.
Yardage for a gauge swatch is also included in the estimates below.

For reference, the sample tees pictured are 11.5 and 15 inches in length.

30” actual bust/chest measurement - 720 yards required
32” - 786 yards
34” - 852 yards
36” - 918 yards
38” - 984 yards
40” - 1050 yards
42” - 1116 yards
44” - 1182 yards
46” - 1248 yards
48” - 1314 yards
50” - 1380 yards
52” - 1446 yards
54” - 1512 yards
56” - 1578 yards
58” - 1644 yards
60” - 1710 yards

For any measurements that fall outside of this range, take your actual bust/chest measurement, multiply it by 33 and then subtract 270 to obtain your approximate required yardage.

Pattern Download - PDF and spreadsheet versions
Pattern purchase includes both PDF and spreadsheet versions. The PDF has blank spaces to write in your measurements and then brief formulas for the calculations. However, the spreadsheet file will take these same measurements and automatically do the rest of the formula math for you!

Swanky Emu Knits design philosophy
I’ve had to modify every single garment I’ve ever knitted for myself. I know plenty of people who look like me, but my body is larger or differently proportioned than most knitting patterns seem to call for.

I create size-inclusive instructions to ensure my patterns work for absolutely every body size and shape, no matter what.
And I build this into the framework of the design rather than add it later.

Everyone deserves to wear something that is both tailored to their shape and that makes them look and feel amazing.
