This pattern includes three small mats that can be used as coasters or dishcloths, that are suitable projects for a brand new knitter.

The three samples shown were knitted from a single ball of worsted weight cotton, and together weigh 60 grams.

I assume that the learner will have someone teaching him or her, or else access to good tutorial videos (a link to Garnstudio’s wonderful videos is given)

How-to-knit instructions are NOT included!

The three pieces are:
--a 5-inch-square coaster, stockinette stitch with a garter stitch border
--a 4-inch garter stitch coaster using domino technique
--a 10-inch-square feather and fan dishcloth with instructions for upsizing to a placemat size.

Techniques included in the three patterns are: cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, garter stitch, stockinette stitch, yarn over, knit two together, slip one-knit one-pass slipped stitch over, slip one-knit two together-pass slipped stitch over, and bind off.
