Bridge spans reach into the sky to offer beauty and protection as we cross the waterways of our lives. Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People, is a new cable-stayed bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.

Tilikum showcases a cable motif on the front panel and the slightly dropped sleeves echo the design with cables that flow into the cuff ribbing.

Tilikum is worked top-down and seamless and much of the sweater can be worked from the inside to avoid purling. The yoke is worked flat and the body and sleeves are worked in the round. The body is finished with notched side seams and a flattering longer back hemline. And, of course, there are several choices for the neckline finish.

The cables are soothing as they are easy to memorize and the stitch pattern is repetitive. Once the first set of cables has been established, which are charted and also written instructions, the following sets are just repeats of the same pattern.

Instructions are included for working from the inside to avoid purling and also for how to work the cables without a cable needle.

This pattern has been professionally tech-edited and tested.
