Meet our adorable Tiny Turtle. He’s cute, cuddly and very lovable. This pattern supplies directions for making our Tiny Turtle.

This Turtle is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Tiny Turtle is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 24.5 m of light green medium weight yarn for the head, legs and tail and 8 m of dark green medium weight yarn for the shell . With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a tapestry needle to sew your turtle together. This will let you create a turtle that’s approximately 12 cm (4.5 inches) in length and 7 cm (3 inches) high.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
