On one of my walks I came across this old farmhouse that had a beautiful carved entrance. Knitters’ minds sometimes work in strange ways, the door looked like a cabled knitting pattern. My first idea was: I must knit this! It finally turned out to become a double knitted scarf, highly stylized and transferred to colorwork.

The scarf is worked in double knitting, using aran weight yarn. A short introduction to double knitting is included in the pattern. If you have never used the technique before, you may find it helpful to watch some tutorials.
There are no written instructions, you need to know how to read charts.

Difficulty level: Intermediate (double knitting, working from charts)

Yarn: Filana Super Merino (100% merino wool, 84m/50g; 93yds/1.76oz), 5 balls of each color. Sample with 8 pattern repeats in a length of 180cm (72in) used 349m (381yds) of each color.

Needles: 5mm/US 8

Notions: yarn needle

Gauge: 17 stitches/19 rows = 10cm/4in

Size: 22cm (8 3/4in) wide. The length is up to you.

Auf einem Spaziergang kam ich bei einem alten Bauernhaus vorbei, das eine wunderschöne gedrechselte Eingangstür hatte. Gedanken von Strickern können manchmal merkwürdig sein, die Tür sah aus wie ein Zopfmuster. Mein erster Gedanke war: Das muss ich stricken! Tatsächlich wurde es dann ein Doppelstrickschal, sehr stilisiert und in ein zweifarbiges Muster übersetzt.

Der Schal wird in dicker Wolle gearbeitet. Eine kurze Einführung ins Doppelstricken gibt es in der Anleitung. Wer die Technik noch nie ausprobiert hat, wird es vielleicht hilfreich finden, Tutorials anzusehen.
Es gibt keine ausgeschriebene Anleitung, das Lesen einer Strickschrift ist erforderlich.
