For Twin Vines, I decided to create a lightweight, A line sweater to throw on as an extra layer or to wear in warmer weather on its own. To do this, two weights of yarn are used along with a larger than called for needle. Only one color is used at a time. I had this idea that it would be visually interesting to have cables run uninterrupted from hem to shoulder while also having horizontal stripes. To add to the interest the stripes increase in number as you progress to the shoulder.

Note: The sample is not knit in a plus size. As a result there are fewer cables and stripes. This adjustment was made so that the motif would be proportional for a plus sized sweater. The overall look is the same with an odd number of cables and increasing stripes to the shoulders.

Details: Twin Vines is knit in the round from the hem. The neckline is a wide boat neck that is edged with ribbing that echoes the hem. The top is worked as a drop shoulder with stitches for the short sleeves picked up after seaming. This pattern is suitable for an intermediate knitter who wants to add to their skill set but also an experienced knitter who enjoys a little intrigue without too much fuss.

Size: The sample is being worn with 2 inches of positive ease. Choose a size larger than your bust measurement for a relaxed look.
