This pattern was inspired by a headband at Three Bird Nest that I saw on Pinterest a while back. I decided that I had to make one for myself!

It is a very light-weight headband (especially when compared to thick winter headbands). It measures 17 inches around (unstretched), however the garter stitching makes it very stretchy! It measures at 4 inches at the widest point (around the ears/garter stitch section) and 2.5-3 inches for the cabled section. I like that the cabled section is thinner because it doesn’t swallow my whole forehead!

Any worsted weight yarn will do,and gauge is not incredibly important for this project since the garter stitching makes the headband so stretchy. However, if you must do a swatch, do this patter:
CO 18, K in garter stitch for 5 inches making sure to slip the last st of each row purlwise. If this measures 4 inches wide and 5 inches long, you’re good! And you don’t have to unravel it, you can just continue on with the cable pattern.

I haven’t made a cabling chart for this because frankly, I don’t know how to make one. If any of you would be interested in making a chart and posting it here, that’s more than welcome!

I only used a miniscule amount of my caron simply soft skein when making this headband. It doesn’t require much yarn at all. I put that it uses between 50-100yds,but I honestly am not sure if that’s correct. I’m terrible at measuring yardage.

If you have any questions or if my pattern makes NO sense at all, please message me or comment on here and I will be happy to help!
