Understated is an elegant shawl that features a combination of clean lines, stockinette stitch and an eyelet lace border. The shawl is knitted bottom-up with the border done simultaneously with the body. Grab your favorite yarn, have fun knitting and just bind off when you run out of yarn or reach the desired size.

Finished Size
After blocking, the sample shawl measures 200 cm (79 inches) long along the top edge and 84 cm (33 inches) deep.

Gauge
The gauge in the stockinette stitch after blocking measures 14 sts x 30 rows in 10 cm x 10 cm.

Yarn
660 yards of sport weight (5ply) weight yarn. The sample shawl was knitted with the combination of different lace weights which together amounted to a sport weight yarn. The resulting fiber content of the yarn used for sample shawl is: linen / alpaca / merino / cashmere / silk.
The shawl will look great in a variety of yarn weights, from fingering to worsted. Feel free to experiment to achieve the look you desire. Do not forget to adjust your needle size accordingly.
