From the Mythos Collection.

The Underworld shawlette is worked from the center wingspan out and down. Cast on begins with a small number of stitches and ends with the longest row. During the first half of the shawlette increases are placed at the ends of each row and in the center on the right side. Once the second half of the pattern is established only the increases at the beginning and end of the row are actually shaping the piece. The increases that are spaced across the rows are what will later become dropped stitches.

Although Underworld is the third shawl in the Mythos Collection, it was actually the first design I planned. I had been experimenting with adding beads to a drop stitch edge and this simple tattered and torn look was perfect for a design associated with the lower realm.

Pattern is rated Low Intermediate for basic stitches, shaping, beading, & bind off techniques.
