This pattern is the final version of the toy made during my 2018 Mystery Knit-Along. A unicorn and small fairy toy are included in the instructions.

Pattern is advanced beginner to intermediate level. Skills required include stockinette and ribbed stitches, k2tog, ssk, and centred double decrease (s2kp), m1 and fkb increases, grafting, and mattress stitch. All pieces are knit flat and then seamed, stuffed, and assembled.

Materials for Unicorn
75 g of white or pale-coloured worsted weight yarn (A), 5 g of white fingering weight yarn (B), 20-30 g of yarn for mane (lace-worsted weight), pair of 2.75 and 4 mm (US size 2 and 6) knitting needles, pair of 15 mm safety eyes or buttons, stuffing, yarn to embroider face, tapestry needle, scrap yarn, small crochet hook (for attaching mane hair)
Gauge: 5.5 sts and 7 rows per 2.5 cm (1″) in st st
Size: 40 cm (16″) tall

Materials for Fairy Friend
10 g of fingering weight yarn in tan or brown (yarn A), 5 g of fingering weight yarn in white (yarn B), 5 g of fingering weight yarn for outfit (yarn C), 5-10 g of yarn for hair (you can use more of yarn C, the same yarn as the unicorn, or other), pair of 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm (US size 2 and 3) knitting needles, stuffing, pair of 8 mm safety eyes or buttons, tapestry needle, small crochet hook (for attaching hair)
Gauge: 8 sts and 10 rows per 2.5 cm (1″) in st st
Size: 12 cm (4½″) tall

The cream unicorn with rainbow hair was made with Knit Pick’s Comfy worsted and fingering in ivory. The mane hair was made with 6 colours of Knit Pick’s Palette yarn, held together with a strand of white Aloft yarn for added volume.
