For textured stitch like this one, I would recommend non-bulky yarn. Fingering weight (many sock yarn would do) is fine or you can put together thin mohair and laceweight woool. For a lighter version, try cotton or cotton-linen blend (50 g/130 m and thinner).

As brioche “eats up” yarn, you would need more than for a usual sweater.
