Urn Cozy Recipe

When our beloved “son” Ty (of the canine four-legged variety) died, we had him privately cremated. The Humane Society, which does the private cremations, provides a very utilitarian yet nice urn. It even comes with a space and a clear cover for a photo on the top. However, I wanted to adorn it somehow along the sides. At first I thought about gluing pictures on in some fashion. Then I considered painting on it. Then, two months later, it finally hit me – I am a knitter! And I decided to knit my “babydog” a cozy. (Said “babydog” was a couple months shy of 14 when he died.)
So, here’s a recipe for how I made mine. As you can see, the urn was graduated in size so I had to make allowances for that. One person that inquired about the cozy mentioned that the one they were provided was just a straight cylinder. There is so much room and need for customization in something so personal that I am just sharing my notes on how I made Ty’s urn cozy.
