From Norse mythology, the Valkyrie were a host of women who chose which warriors would die in battle and which of those would be selected to enter the hall of Valhalla in the afterlife. They are often depicted in full battle armor, riding winged horses out of the clouds to survey the battlefield. Norse legend also says that the Northern Lights are produced from sunlight glinting off the Valkyries armor as they rode through the clouds.

These fingerless mitts are knit from the cuff through the hand in the round. They feature two beaded lace patterns.

The samples are knit in size S/M and took just about half a skein of fingering-weight yarn. They also were worked using size-6 seed beads; approximately 280 are needed to complete pattern as written.
