Riotous. Joyful. Colorful. All these describe these socks.

Charts for this pattern have been Revamped and Improved based on suggestions from the 2017 Tour de Sock Racers! They are easier to follow, show detailed Jacquard Stitch information and have a more detailed key.

They were designed for the 2017 Tour de Sock and they feature all over color work and Jacquard Floats. Yes, even the heels and toes are color worked.

These socks are technically challenging but not hard. It will require a little practice working with 3 and 4 strands of yarn for each round, but they are doable by anyone with a bit of knitting experience and a sense of adventure.

I recommend using colors that contrast well. You will especially want to be sure that Highlight Color 1 contrasts well with the Main Color and Highlight Color 2 contrasts well with Contrast Color.

The heel on these is worked a little different but is basically a heavily modified Strong/Fleegle/Heidi Heel.

Multi-Stranding is a technique that is often seen in Turkish or Afghanistani socks and is a tradition in that part of the world. Obviously these are not patterned in the way those socks are, but I did get some of the ideas about what is possible for doing color work from looking at that work.

I want to take a moment to offer some special thanks to some folks who did a whole lot to make the release of these possible.

First off PaiviH who was the test knitter for these. Her patience, countless hours working through the charts and the instructions to help make them clear and explicit was invaluable. :sparkles: Kiitos :sparkles:

Second is bellybuttonknits who did much technical editing and hand holding. I had some personal issues that arose during the time these were being worked and the pattern written and Belly’s (Adrienne’s) support was one of the things that helped me juggle and handle both. :sparkles: Thank You :sparkles:

There are others, including Helluvamimi who never knew what I was working on, just that I was, and was a great shoulder when I needed her. SarahBess who never gave up on me even if I missed deadlines or pushed them to the limit. She could have easily said wait until next year and she did not. ableramm who was and still is an inspiration. She is fearless when it comes to color and new techniques and I would not be doing color work at all without her encouragement, nudging, and friendship.
