Feminine beret stranded knit hat with flowers, vines and leaves. Can be worn as a beret with the top folded over to one side or as a slouchy hat letting it fall towards the back of the head. This hat is not a beanie.

Pattern uses one skein each of the two colors.

Measurements:
Circumference at brim 19” (21 1/2”) / 48cm (52cm)
Circumference at widest point 26” / 66cm for both sizes
Hat height 10” / 25cm for both sizes.

For best results use the yarn specified in the pattern. Other yarns may not yield as good of an outcome. Rowan Kid Classic feels light in weight, and with smaller needles I think it’s more like a sport or DK weight, even though Ravelry’s description calls it a Aran or worsted weight. It also has a slight fuzz which works beautiful with this pattern and it comes in many nice colors.

There are 2 size options, Small/Medium and Large. I think most knitters will prefer the Small/Medium size, but if you have thick curly hair or want a looser brim you might prefer the Large. The photo with the Blue & Dark Red color way (3rd picture down) is size small/Medium. The photo with the Browns color way (1st & 2nd picture) is size Large. A tip to remember with ribbing is that a 2 X 2 ribbing is looser and doesn’t have as much ‘spring’ as a 1 X 1 ribbing…most comments about my hat refer to the rib being too loose. Also you could take 4sts away from the cast on, almost an 1” around the brim, but you need to add these 4 sts back on the increase round.

If you don’t want it quite as “slouchy” maybe go down a needle size (for both the rib and the body)…the Kid Classic yarn will do this beautifully.
