The Vodka Collection started with a conversation about what we like to add to a basic sweater when knitting. Each of us chooses what makes us happy, from simple to complex, depending on our skill level, preferred style, and mood. With The Vodka Collection, I wanted to look at the V-neck cardigan from that perspective.

The Collection features 4 designs, and 3 patterns, covering this spectrum from TV knitting to a statement sweater. The sweaters are all designed in YOTH’s gorgeous FATHER yarn, a domestic Rambouillet that’s pretty fantastic no matter what you do with it.

Vodka With A Twist is the statement sweater of the collection. This one is about thoughtful details, placed to highlight the different contrasts in texture on this cardigan. The transition from ribbing to each cable panel is intentionally framed at cuff and hip, and set in pockets are placed just so in the cables. A generous shawl collar and modified dropped shoulder construction add a super cozy feel to the sweater, and the pale blue shade adds a soft, feminine vibe. It’s knit in pieces and seamed, and the shawl collar is worked along with each front and joined at the center back. So yes, there are a few things to keep track of here and this is for when you want to pay a bit of attention to your project.

However, even with a lot of details, I’ve picked simple lines and memorizable textures here. None of them are actually difficult. And when you pair them all together, the result is a hugely satisfying, cozy sweater I just want to curl up in. Because sometimes the details are worth it. In my drink analogy, this is like learning how to add a flourish to your cocktail - like making the proper twist in a perfectly cut lemon peel.
