Waiting for Winter Mittens & Fingerless Mitts
Waiting for Winter Mittens and Fingerless Mitts is a fun and fast basic worsted weight mitten pattern. It is that go-to pattern to make the perfect fitting mitten for just about anyone in the family.
The pattern requires 100 yards for the small size, 150 yards for the medium and 200 yards for the large size mittens. The fingerless mitts take less. The samples are knit in Noro Kureyon, Freshisle Fibers Suffolk Wool (watermelon striping), and my own handspun from Dyeabolical Yarns and Fiber.
The instructions are clear and simple. The increase for the thumb gusset is a done by using a simple backward loop cast on. There is a great video tutorial for this increase by Paula of the Knitting Pipeline right here:

My hope is that you will fall in love with this fun mitten and fingerless mitts pattern and use it again and again every year. After a couple of pairs you will have it memorized!
I am hosting a Waiting for Winter Mitt-along from December 5th through January 5th on my Itty-Bitty Knits group. Sign-ups are open (no cut-off date this time) and you can sign up any time during the scheduled knitalong. Here is the link:
