Summer is slowly drawing to a close in the northern hemisphere, though it feels hotter than ever when we step outside. Nevertheless, autumn is right around the corner. This narrow scarf is a great addition to your wardrobe for those cooler nights that are coming up.

Walking through the woods and forests brings a sense of peace and comfort, even during trying times. I’m lucky to now live near several national and state parks and try to walk a trail or two whenever my health (and the weather) will allow.

Inspiration for this scarf came from the variety of flora along the pathways. As you knit this scarf, I hope that you, too, feel the comfort of the gentle sunlight streaming through the branches of the oaks, the soft whispers of the ferns brushing against one another, and the cool silence of the moss.

May your season be filled with the comfort of the forest.

You’ll need a skein of sock yarn (between 200-325 yards, depending on the size and length you make) and your favorite needles. You also might like to have handy your favorite mug of coffee or tea, a bouquet of flowers, or even a happy song list playing in the background.

The sample was knit with Cauldron’s Path Yarns Alpine Treasure in Deep Forest and used 215 yards.
