A little raglan cardigan in simple cables and Irish moss stitch, with optional pockets and a shawl collar.
The pattern is written in full with a chart for the cables as well as full text, and instructions for German short row shaping and one-row buttonholes.

The samples were made in Patons “Totem” (8 ply / DK crepe wool; 50 gms = 91 m), but any well spun yarn of similar weight and yardage, that achieves the required gauge, can be used.

The cardigan is made on two needles, from the hem upwards, in separate pieces to the armholes; then the fronts, back and sleeves are all joined, to be worked as one for the raglan shaping. For this reason you need quite long needles, or a circular needle (used as a pair).

Sizes for age 3 - 6 months, 6 - 12 months, 1 - 2 yrs, 3 -4 yrs.
(Ages given are only a rough guide – children’s sizes vary widely).

This pattern is not for beginners, but the pattern is fully explained and the cable patterns are only 4 or 8 rows long and easily learnt.
