The Whipsaw Beret is inspired by my Whipsaw Mitts. Here the same easy but intriguing back-and-forth lace pattern is worked in a heavier yarn to produce a hat with a moderate amount of slouch.

The hat is worked on circular needles, and you should be comfortable working M1 and yo increases as well as k2tog, ssk and sk2p decreases.

The directions are written and charted, and the ribbing of the one size (women’s medium) stretches to accommodate a range of head sizes.

Many thanks to ktlv for tech editing and KEP for test knitting.
