Have a Caron Cake (or 2 or 3?) you didn’t know what to do with? Well here is your quest: Make a WHITE MOUNTAINS SLIDE! (As Elrond said: “One of you must do this…”)

Two versions: the Shallow version (“Pippin’s Ride”) takes just 1 cake or the Deeping version (“Merry’s Ride”) takes 2 or 3 (depending on if you are controlling the colors or they are controlling you). Yes, this IS a LOTR-themed shawl!

So ride with us past the White Mountains as we knit across this shawl in ever-lengthening rows - until we reach Pelennor Fields, with the fires of Mordor burning in the distance along the final row…

The Ride to Gondor

From Edoras and Dunharrow we rode
Through the dimming, through the Eastfold,
The Plains of Rohan on our left,
Relentless hoofbeats pounding deft.

The Snowbourne to the Entwash mouth
We followed East and then rode South
To Fenmarch and through Firien Wood
Where highest of the beacons stood.

As March winds blew their icy blast
Upon the Great West Road we passed
The white-capped mountains on our right
And rode to Gondor through the night

Past Amon Dîn, the beacon hill
Then through the darkling woods until
The rising sun at last revealed
The City of White and Pelennor Fields.
