This soft and cuddly blanket was created out of a desire to incorporate lace with a serene background. The stockinette and dot stitch blocks, bordered by the lace stitches, seem to create the perfect balance.

Designed for the intermediate knitter, only 3 stitches beyond knit and purl are used: knit 2 together, yarn over, and slip, slip, knit. The border is what I would call ‘double garter’. The effect is created by knitting a row, then purling a row, followed by purling a row, then knitting a row.

Knit in Sirdar Snuggly dk yarn, I used 6 skeins plus about 20 yards of the 7th skein. Each skein was 178 yards, so I recommend buying 1100-1200 yards to make sure you have enough to finish. Remember everyone’s tension/gauge is slightly different and that accounts for using a little more or less yarn that the original knitter.

The finished blanket is 30” x 36” when blocked.
