This sweater is worked seamlessly and in one piece from the neck down, and mostly in the round. The intarsia star is worked in the so-called “in the round” method, and the technique is described in detail for an invisible join. Video instruction for my method is posted on YouTube here.

Options are offered for both a conventional and a provisional Cast On.

Yardage: 840 (900, 980, 1040, 1120, 1180, 1240, 1320) yds of Main Color. Allow for about 120 yds for the Contrast Color, more if you wish to work the optional star fragment at the back hem (and who wouldn’t?)

Tools Required: US 9 (5.5mm) & US 10 (6mm) needles for working in the round:
1 long/2 short circulars or set of double-pointed needles (dpns) for method of choice to work smaller circumferences like neckline and sleeves in the round.
long circular (cir) needle for body – recommend 24” and 32” plus 40” for larger sizes
Removable Markers (m)
Stitch holders or scrap yarn
Crochet hook for optional provisional cast on (see note below)
