This hat can be made either as a slouchy beanie or more of a beret style, and is gorgeous when made with a self striping yarn.

Gauge 3 1⁄2 stitches per inch. For Beret look, use size 11 needles and for more of a Beanie closer fitting look, use size 10 1⁄2 needles.

YARN: “5” bulky weight yarn – variegation or striping makes hat very interesting. About 150 yards needed. Samples were made in Louisa Harding’s “Thalia” (2 hanks) , Moda Dea “Tweedle Dee” (1 ball) and Ironstone “Color Changes” (2 balls).

NEEDLES: See above for size 10 1⁄2 or 11 – 2 sets of 24” or 16” circulars for top or double pointed needles and 1 24” or 16” circular for main part of hat. 1 size larger needle to bind off brim very loosely.

Other Notions: 1 package of split ring markers or safety pin markers for keeping track of Entrelac rows.

Directions are for using 2 sets of circular needles.
