This 100% cashmere yarn is a dream to wear up close around your neck- buttery soft, with a lovely halo that doesn’t obscure the stranded snowflake design. I knit this one in the Mocha and Natural colourways, but there are lots of great combos you could choose!

Yarn (sample knit in now discontinued yarn, but 400 yards of each colour will work )
Xanadu (100% Mongolian Cashmere; 400 yards(365m) per 55g skein
• 1 skein Mocha (main colour)
• 1 skein Natural White (contrasting colour)

Needles
Size US 3 (3.25mm) 16” circular needle— Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions
Tapestry needle, waste yarn (and crochet hook if that is your provisional cast on technique) for provisional cast on, additional needle for grafting, 3 stitch markers.

Gauge
38 stitches and 40 rows= 4 inches in two-colour pattern, after blocking.

Finished Size
26 inches in length before grafting, after grafting, 26 inches in outer circumference.

Notes
The cowl is knit in the round from a provisional cast on, and when complete, the provisional cast on is removed, the live stitches are grafted together using kitchener stitch. Instructions for techniques are at the end of the pattern, but if you prefer visual demonstrations, there are many video tutorials from a variety of sources if you google the techniques.

If you are new to stranded knitting, please read the additional notes at the end of the pattern to help understand yarn colour dominance and how to ‘catch’ long floats.
