You will need:

  • One skein of Aran Weight yarn- 175 yards/ 100 gms
  • 1 set of size US 9 or US size 10 needles.

The finished sack is 7” wide and 17” long is is meant to swaddle a newborn size baby.

I designed this sleep sack for a friend’s newborn. She had another one that didn’t button up and said it was so hard to get the baby into it. Picture trying stuff and maneuver a moving pillow into a pillow case and you get the idea of how hard it was.

I came up with this design that allows you to lay the baby onto and then button up the side to swaddle the baby. She loved it!!! Easy to use and served the same purpose!

This pattern is knit in a simple stockinette stitch. It also uses simple crochet stitches to finish the edges.

You will need to know:

  • How to knit and purl.
  • How to cast on at the end of a row.
  • How to do the single crochet and double crochet stitches.

I have photos for each step of how to put it together and finish it.
