Zinnia is an easy-to-knit, roomy shoulder bag that would be a good first felting project for a knitter who wants to try felting. Finished dimensions are about 12 inches wide by 2 inches deep by 9 inches high; the shoulder strap is about 38 inches long.

This pattern uses 500-600 yards of worsted weight wool yarn. You’ll also need stitch markers, a tapestry needle, a 24-inch US9/5.5mm circular knitting needle, US9/5.5mm straight or double pointed needles, and a button. Knitting techniques used in this pattern include casting on, binding off, stockinette and garter stitch, increasing, decreasing, three-needle bind off, and seaming.

The bag does not need to be lined, but for those who want to sew a fabric lining, instructions are included.
