Notes

So the Tour de Fleece insanity is full on. This is my two Bump Loop Madness! And much to my amazement, I finished it in time!

WPI - 12-17
most in the 14-16 range

Total - a whooping 1680 yards total

Mammoth Skein -
630 x 66” = 41580” = 1155 yds
WPI 13-17
mostly 14 & 16

Medium Skein -
196 x 71” = 13916” = 386.556 yds
WPI 12-17
mostly 14

Littlest Skein -
77 x 65” = 5005” = 139.02778 yds
WPI 14-15 - pretty consistent

Wish I could figure out how to have two stash items combine into one. I kept doing it wrong. But I managed to add the second Bump to the Fiber used. So I guess I will leave this as is.

I realized that I can probably eke out a sweater for Elder Munchkin with two Bumps. So I am hoping to keep this on the thinner side, but with enough loft to make it lovely to wear. I am crossing my fingers I finish the two Bumps in time.

Water Ballet Pic from the amazing Steph at Loop!

7/6/15 - Day 3 Tour de Fleece

The Ultraviolet Bump went on the wheel!

This is a beautiful purple Bump I was hoarding from myself. My terrific SIL picked it up at Maryland Sheep & Wool in 2010. I ended up sick so I couldn’t make it that year. She was so great to get it for me.

It never made it into my Ravelry stash. So it was pretty much forgotten until the move last year unearthed it again.

I realized that with the sparkle, I should really let it go. The deep purples are sooo very me. But the sparkle, not so much.

Since it is only Day 3, I am tackling two Bumps & plying them. gulp

It is really hard to show off the colors.

7/7/15 - Day 4 Tour de Fleece

I hit the black hole! The fiber is super dark. I think black with silver sparkle. (Need to look more in daylight…)

So I only took two pics. Even that was pressing it to make a point as it is yet more black with silver!!

It is also tricky because I am spinning at night. So I have to take pics with the flash. And the sparkle & flash aren’t a good combo. But hey, it is what it is.

7/8/15 - Day 5 Tour de Fleece through 7/11/15 - Day 8 Tour de Fleece
More spinning… It is a big Bump

Getting 24 to 28 WPI for the single. Mostly 28. Pretty thin as per usual with the lovely Bumps.

7/12/15 - Day 9 Tour de Fleece
Singles in Ultraviolet COMPLETED! Woohoo!

7/15/15 - Day 12 Tour de Fleece
Started the Water Ballet Bump

7/20/15 - Day 17 Tour de Fleece
Stayed up until 2:45 am spinning this… Bad idea! But I really wanted to finish it in time to start plying it on Weds..

My concern is that I am taking off Thursday-Monday to go to S.NJ with my family to stay at my SIL near the shore. So I really wanted to get started on the plying.

7/21/15 - Day 18 Tour de Fleece
Letting the singles rest to ply them on the 22nd. Seems appropriate as it is rest day in the TdF!

7/22/15 - Day 19 Tour de Fleece
Seems I did my challenge day a day early…6+ hours of plying and staying up til 2 am on a work night…Not my best move! And that was only about 2 oz. of each!

7/23/15 - Day 20 Tour de Fleece
Technical troubles meant I stayed up too late without much progress. Not good!

Also, the amounts weren’t matching. The Water Ballet was a 5 oz. Bump and the Ultraviolet was 4.8. But there was 12 grams/0.4 oz. difference. I knew I would have to adjust when the time came.

7/24/15 - Day 21 Tour de Fleece
I was traveling for vacation. But got to spin on a screen porch on the S.NJ coast. Nice!

Finished up all the Ultraviolet single. But still had Water Ballet left.

7/25/15 - Day 22 Tour de Fleece
Finished plying the Water Ballet single I had with me.

However, I had pulled a some purple single out of the Water Ballet to ply it with the pinks as I figured that would be a good match with the Ultraviolet colors. But I left it at home!

7/26/15 - Day 23 Tour de Fleece
Had to come home early. Plyed the remaining purple I left home with the remaining single. It meant I got to finish the Double Bump project for the end of the TdF.

7/28/15 - Skeining & Soaking
Wow. Took about an hour to skein the monster! But it is gorgeous. Love the changes in color. Took tons of pics, but impossible to capture all its glory.
