Talked with a crochet expert and she said I was probably overthinking this. I wouldn’t see it the same way in a finished garment as I did with it laid out in a strip on the table. So after more than a year, I’m finished!

I ripped back to just front and back panel number one and restarted. The fit is great. I love the ability to adjust fit as you go in her patterns. Can’t wait for the right weather to wear it.

This project is such a cute sweater and I am sorry I haven’t made better progress. You can kind of see in the lengthwise photo that my two sides look like they have different stitch patterns. :-( The two sides of the back show it most. They look like one side is inside-out. I redid it and it still looked that way. I redid it by starting on the other other end (not part of the pattern) and I’m still not sure it looks right. Having trouble figuring out why. The yarn is very shiny, so maybe it has something like the nap of fabric?
I really want this sweater, so I will figure it out. But currently perplexed.
