2014 11 03 UPDATE: Only last two rows of Color A left to finish Clue 1. This is an excellent pattern. A genius design with well written, line-by-line instructions. Easy to memorize, nearly mindless knitting - yet not at all on the boring side. Most lovely with its wedges swirling with color and a perfect icord edge along on the top!
- Clue #2 - November 7 2014 11 09 UPDATE: Getting lots of practice with the brioche stitches as I work each set of RS and WS rows on both this project and my second shawl, Exploration Station II. I’d say I can comfortably recognize when to brp or brk and when to sl1yo … holding the working yarn in my right hand, I have established a nice rhythm to my knitting … though I proceed carefully, no where near a speed-knitting pace by any means, as it still feels new to me. Have seen this stitch in so many patterns and was curious about it … delighted to get to learn it with soooooo many others during this MKAL. Certainly seems easier and friendlier that way. I like it, and hope there is more of it coming in the next clues …
2014 11 13 UPDATE: Clue 2, Section 1 - Bountiful Brioche and Section 2 - Sassy Slips is FINISHED - just in time for Clue #3 tomorrow too … oh wait … I still have the Sassy Slips section to finish on my second shawl, Exploration Station II … better get busy … but wait, this is Thursday! I dance with the Man on Thursday evenings … guess I’ll be finishing those sassy slips up in the morning BEFORE I start Clue 3! S much knitting, so little time … ha … or is it, so much dancing, so little time … :-D
Only 6g of Color D - Calypso remain now. What to do, what to do …
2014 11 15 UPDATE: Oh gosh, was so busy working on my second Exploration Station, Exploration Station II, that I neglected to order more yarn! :-/
Having barely a yard remaining of Color D by the time I finished Clue 3 on the second shawl, there is absolutely no way starting out with a mere 6g will make it through this clue … it maybe would barely make it halfway through. :-(
Placing order today … sigh.
2014 11 24 UPDATE: Clue #4 received … meanwhile, the additional ball of Color D, Calypso, has arrived to finish up the colorwork in Clue #3 with the last two set up rows of Color A, Black, remaining … then it’s on to complete the Chevron Shenanigans in Black. Will switch back to Color D, Calypso, for the icord bind off for an added pop of color to finish off this shawl. What a fun mystery knit along this has been … :-)
2014 11 29 UPDATE: Can’t believe I finished two of these babies in ONE month - especially with a major family holiday gathering at our home falling in the midst of these projects too … but so it is, I made two of these babies! Both incredibly different - one in soft grays with pale lichen and oyster, and this one, in brighter colors. Did the icord bind off with the contrasting calypso for a real color pop. It’s soaking now and will spend the evening on the blocking board. I love this one too … it’s a gift so will be hard to part with … gosh, must I make yet another one …
