ICED Cardi -
This is my entry for the Wool-pak contest. It took 3rd place!!

This is my modified version of this sweater. I did seed stitch instead of garter stitch, added a more tapered waist, finished with a crocheted edging, and lengthened the body and the arms. The result is a jacket that will wear easily over long sleeved shirts and go well with jeans during the fall/winter/spring months where there is just enough chill in the air to warrant a light jacket. It also has the shawl collar, so you can wrap up your neckline to keep out the damp and the chill. Really a PERFECT project for this yarn. And it really would be a quick knit if you didn’t put it down as often as I did.

6/11/2011 - Started and made it up to the division for the arms. Fast knit! :)

6/13/2011 - About five rows from binding off the body. I decided to do the decreases every 5 rows and I did an extra and then I did the increases every 3 rows instead. I also knit to 15.5 inches and am doing a couple of inches of seed stitch at the bottom. I’m hoping to have the cardi be more of a jacket and come down longer…so I’m aiming for 17+ inches.

6/17/2011 - Bound off. Did a crocheted binding in Cascade 220 and sewed on buttons. Also wove in the ends. Will start arms at some point soon, but I need to get done with another project or two first :) I also put my buttons on the “wrong” side since I carry my babies on the left hip, it made more sense this way for me.

8/6/2011 - picked up again after almost two months. Started the arms two at a time. I’m planning to knit the arms as full sleeves instead of 3/4 length sleeves.

9/17/2011 - Several things came up (an 800 yard project in 30 days and three baby sets for last minute baby shower gifts) and I had to put this aside for a few weeks. I have about 8 rows left and my bind off and edging for the sleeves, but it goes fairly quickly. I am hoping that if I don’t finish tonight that I can at least finish and bind off tomorrow. Then I need to block and get photos.
