Notes

Testing Helen’s sock pattern with the most intensely pigmented rainbow sock yarn on the planet…Done Roving. I’m knitting the child’s medium size, for Alex, who recently requested a pair of rainbow socks :)

Modified the length of the leg in the stockinette section from 10 rounds to 1.5” to fit higher up his leg (per his request). Otherwise, I’m going along exactly as written.

  • About the yarn. It’s a wool crepe, with a tight twist and a high shine. I love the colors to death, but I don’t love the feel of it. I hope that it will soften up after washing, but either way, the color makes it all worth it.

10/17/12 well, these sat around for a while with one completed sock waiting for it’s mate. I finally finished it yesterday and put the socks into my son’s sock drawer while he was sleeping. He woke up a very happy boy this morning, and he’s wearing them as we speak.

  • Update: regarding the feel of the yarn: I still don’t love how it feels in my hands, but he loves how they feel on his feet. He has sensory processing disorder and he’s very particular about how things feel…so I think that this is a good recommendation for the yarn and I’d be willing to use it again because of the beautiful color and because of how much he loves them :)
