Notes

Super excited to begin this!

Guage of 4.5 stitches per 1”.
Cast on 108 stitches for 24” chest (2T(ish) size).

4/02/11~ body done. ~9” from cast on edge to underarm. Lovin’ this color for my sweet boy!♥

CO 22 stitches for sleeve. ~2” (12 rows) of 1x1 ribbing and then increasing (2) every 5th row (beginning on row 13) for a total of 36 stitches. Total length of ~9.5” before joining to body.

4/07/11~ Joined sleeves to body and decided to go with seamless raglan rather than hybrid.

Knit 1” plain before decreases.

Began neck shaping with 10 sleeve stitches between marked stitches.
20 stitches on yarn for neck front (neck shaping).

1” or so of 1x1 ribbing for neck border.

62 total stitches for BO (nearly 60%).
Used EZ’s sewn BO.

Loved the kitchener stitch for grafting the underarms together! Seamless and lovely!

Finished 4/09/11

For Next Time:

  • No sleeve shaping. Ribbed cuffs are enough for a child.
  • Knit 1.5” before beginning decreases.
  • Consider decreasing to 8 stitches before beginning neck shaping???
  • Add a couple more rows to neck ribbing (border)
  • Use a needle size smaller for neck ribbing

August 2012:
This sweater got so much love! I’ve read somewhere that Peter of Peace Fleece actually puts his own sweaters in the washing machine (gasp!~ I have no idea if this is true, btw!), so I decided to try it.
A year and some months later, this sweater has mostly been hand-washed but has gone through the machine once or twice when I’ve been desperate to get it washed. (Also, I was curious!) I’ve lost about 1/2 inch on the sleeves and body in length. The chest measurement has not changed.
The sweater has a beautiful “halo” now and does not seem to be felted much, if at all.
I’ll probably continue to hand-wash though in order to preserve the life of the sweater.

Has been washed and put away for now. Hoping it will fit little sister next spring. ♥
