Notes

This project has gotten way out of hand. I’m not usually one for endless SC rounds, but that’s exactly what I’ve done here. I deluded myself into thinking the H hook would make my stitches larges, therefore needing less stitches overall, but I forgot to take into account my super tight, amigurumi tension. The fabric is really stiff and I’m not sure how well the cord will gather up the top part. If I was willing to sew in a zipper, I think that would work better for the top.

Update 5/15/15

Used up almost exactly two skeins of the variegated brown. I originally planned to use a variegated green but thought that might make the bento too busy.

I transitioned to the hot green yarn a couple of days ago and am now a couple of rows from finishing the bag.

Originally I had intended to make an insert of two pieces surrounding plastic canvas only to realize that it would make last minute washing (and—most importantly—drying) the piece difficult. I think it would have been better to make two bottom pieces and crochet them together, then start working in the round for the sides. At this point the bag is so large that I think it will still need an insert.

Still need to knit an i-cord. I think that will be more secure than crocheting a long chain.

Update: 5/16/15

All finished. Ended up knitting a 36” i-cord
