Notes

I read Elizabeth Zimmermans’ “Knitting Without Tears” and with the knowledge I gained of her EPS, I managed to put together this sweater. It’s the first time I have knitted a sweater without using a pattern as such and I love the results! Very keen to cast on another one soon as I was able to make this one so quickly, even though the ends were a bit of a nightmare!

I have a massive amount of pure wool on cones, most of it is 4 ply and much of it is JC Rennie Shetland wool. I used mainly JC Rennie Shetland 4ply. Not sure of the shades as the labels were missing for most, but I also used some other wools.

To give you a rough idea of quantities, there are 15 colours and the finished garment weighs 315g, so divided by 15 mean that you’ll only need about 21g in each colour.

Colours used were white, pale grey, charcoal grey, forget me knot, sky, denim, Hyacinth, cobalt, navy, aqua, Turquoise, teal, ochre, apple, khaki.

Cast on at waist 252 sts
30 rnds 2 x 2 rib
77 x 2 row stripes = 154 rnd to Armhole

There is waist shaping but I can’t work out where I did it.

Sleeve cast on 56 sts at wrist.
77 x 2 row stripes = 154 rnds to armholes increasing sts to 96 sts before separation.
