Notes

I’m so supper excited to make this afghan!! I saw it advertised in a magazine a few months ago and when Judy told me that they were going to have a class on Saturdays for it I almost died! ^_^

I’ve been slow in updating my projects on Ravelry, so I’m going to be doing a little back-tracking. The class actually started on Sept 27th with the cables/lace square. It took quite a bit for me to be able to follow and not have to re-work every row, but I finally got it and ended up spending all of Sat focusing on just doing that square.

Week 2 was supposed to be the increase square, but I got a pretty bad kidney infection and didn’t feel like touching my needles after being at work all week. I have yet to start this square…

Oct 11, however was very enjoyable with the decrease square. Up until this point I had just been using my cheap Susan Bates straight needles from Wal-mart. Then this square came along forcing me to use circulars… Turbo needles have changed my life!! I swear that I could knit forever with them. I actually was able to get 1/2 of this square done by Tuesday night and had to switch to bamboo dpn. That’s when I realized how much I truly hate wooden needles. I’m not looking forward to finishing 1/2 of a square on them. -_-

10/23/08 - Yay!! I finished the Forest for the Trees square on Tuesday (10/21) during our knitting group at Barnes & Nobel!! This was my favorite square so far. I had family from out-of-town here so this was just the right project to work on when we were all sitting around talking and drinking coffee. I love how it turned out & am thinking of using the pattern for the flap on a mini messenger-bag.

11/1/08 - Ok, time for an update: I’ve finished the decrease square and the pocket square and have just started on the embellishment square. The flowers themselves are done, but my next step is knitting the whole background of stockinette before I get to attach the stem/leaves/flowers to it. Oh, well, at least I haven’t used this color yet so that’s something to look forward to with it. ^_^

12/7/08 - Believe it or not, I am still working on this. I’ve just been taking a break about gabbing about it here. Lol, I’ve been too busy with my Christmas presents.

12/14/08 - Finally finished the sheep square… ugh. This was not one of my favorites and I don’t really have a reason. I was enjoying it and then just hit a wall or something and was sick of working on it. It’s done, though, so now I get to work on the Monogram Square which I am enjoying very much. I’m thinking that the next blanket that I make will be a log-cabin blanket made up of these types of squares. ^_^

7/12/12 - I finally decided to pull this UFO out of it’s resting place and I’ve been zipping though finishing it! I had to re-do 1 square because it was just way too big, then I finished 2 partially completed squares and then knit 1 brand new square. I’ve got the individual squares all blocked so that they’re the same size and now I’m just working on adding the borders and connecting all the pieces. I’m almost there!!
